Hope everyone is navigating these uncertain times.
“So my baby GrowRVA South of the James Farmers Market becomes a teenager on Saturday…what a journey it has been!” said Karen Grisevich. 13 years of amazing and awesome support by vendors, customers and the RVA community. The market on Saturday pre-COVID was more than shopping but an experience. COVID-19 has definitely changed everything in the world including the market and all lives.
I’m a vendor and miss my market family tremendously. Of course, Saturdays were my day to sell, but also to connect with my customers and fellow vendors. Catching up on the highs, the lows, kids, parents, spouses, significant others, milestones, maybe just to vent and to shop (of course). The market has been a constant in my life for 6 plus years and we are all deciding how to proceed every day. The market and vendors are constantly evaluating processes for improvement; we all know certain situations aren’t perfect but everyone is doing the best they can. Please remember there are people behind these businesses, giving their heart and soul; humane interaction is a must for working together in a productive manner. Let’s lift each other up!
Summer market hours kickoff on Saturday, 8 am – Noon, and even though it will look differently, the market is excited to continue in providing food access for the community. The details are posted on the website and social media.
I hope you have a wonderful day, stay safe, stay hopeful and do something that makes you happy.
